Specifically, the Society discovers and collects any material which helps to establish or illustrate the history of the area, its exploration, settlement, development, activities in peace and war, its progress in population, wealth, education, arts, science, agriculture, trade, manufacturing, and transportation.

We collect printed, manuscript, and museum materials and objects illustrative of life, conditions, events, and activities of the past and present.

In cooperation with Borough officials, we provide for the preservation and accessibility of historical materials.

We work to encourage the preservation of historic sites, buildings, monuments, and markers. We act in cooperation with historical architects to assist owners seeking information on the historical restoration of their properties.

Lastly, we disseminate historical information and generate interest in the past by publishing various documents, holding meetings, and by marking historic buildings, sites, and trails.

Major fund raisers are scheduled on the May 15th anniversary each year. Each celebration will feature a luncheon together with an activity of historic interest, e.g., walking tour of the historic district, memorabilia road show, etc. Regular monthly meetings will include a guest presentation of historic interest. The Society meets the fourth Tuesday of each month (third Tuesday in November and December) at the Phoenix House, 2 West Main Street (Route 24), Mendham, at 7:30 p.m. Annual dues are $12.
