The show is exactly what this country needs. It is not the BS media we get from every other commercial news program. I'm shocked that a company that calls itself "Patriot Media" will even air it, especially on a Patriot Media station. I can only imagine how much effort this took, not to mention legal wrangling. I'm sure if you post an mp3 of the show people will listen who normally aren't on this late, or don't have access to Patriot Media. I don't have access to the Patriot Media normally myself. This is actually a good thing considering how evil it is. If you decide to post it I'd actually suggestion something other then MP3, WMV, or even Real as these have patents & proprietary issues. OGG Vorbis is a good audio format similar to Mp3 that is a completely open, and patent-free. |

Thanks for the positive comment... on the subject of putting the show online that's probably not going to happen anytime soon, as I use a dial-up connection and the files would be too large for practical upload. On the general subject of video over ip I'm of the general opinion that this is being pushed a little before its time and that it may end up stuck in imperfect implementation as a result. Put simply, video consumes a ton of bandwidth and a rational effort should be made to keep the Internet miles the files must travel to an absolute minimum. I'm thinking local broadband providers should be obliged to download copies of popularly requested video content and to directly serve their customers those "local" copies when possible. The simple truth is broadband is more expensive than it would be if all content customers were not obliged to finance infrastructure upgrades to handle the plainly excessive-use video represents. It's kind of like the old Ma Bell days were half your local phone bill represented a subsidy for long-distance callers. I am willing to provide copies of the show on DVD. If you send me $3 or $4 dollars I can send a DVD of the first 12 episodes. Send to: InMendham.com c/o G Mosher 147 Ironia Rd. Mendham NJ 07945 PS. As for open source, and freeware, I certainly support that... but I think more rational limitations on the duration of copyrights is needed.... especially in the case of infrastructure style operating systems AND SUCH. |

I'll admit caching does have many benefits. Given certain conditions something could be done to better utilize bandwidth at the ISP level, however I've seen high end solutions that plug-in to major university networks that have caused more problems than they've solved. What I've seen is partly just incompetent IT, however if you do the math you will see additional latency if you add an http proxy service, or something similar to better utilize bandwidth for web traffic. This might not be acceptable, especially if you start tinkering with things at a lower level. You seem fairly intelligent and knowledgeable in the technical realm. In any case though I would be careful about using words like Freeware, free software, and open source cause they actually mean three completely different things and could be very relevant in this comment. I have no interest in supporting Freeware, but do have an interest in Free software. Anyway, discussion for another time. Regardless of this though- you won't hear any arguments from me. Copyright has been extended because of commercial interests and has completely flipped relative to what it was created for. Wow, I could say so much more in response to some of this but I don't have the time. If I don't forget & find the time I might take you up on the DVD. $5 hardly seems worth the time and effort though on your part. In any case I'd like to see you get high speed internet access & see these shows on the net. I can't imagine someone being without it who is contributing so much. I'm fairly fortunate, or should I say very fortunate to have high speed internet and extra cash, although I do have finite means and am stressed pretty thin for worthy causes. |

This might not be acceptable, especially if you start tinkering with things at a lower level. I will concede that sometimes, the right thing, done the wrong way is no bargain... but I also think many mistakes are "accidentally" on purpose. You seem fairly intelligent and knowledgeable in the technical realm. Sort of a "jerk of all realms, master of none." In any case though I would be careful about using words like Freeware, free software, and open source cause they actually mean three completely different things and could be very relevant in this comment. I have no interest in supporting Freeware, but do have an interest in Free software. Point accepted... but I think for a common audience making distinctions could look kind of hair splity. $5 hardly seems worth the time and effort though on your part. Probably true... but I could say that about the whole web site. In any case I'd like to see you get high speed internet access & see these shows on the net. I am suing Patriot media and figure maybe I can get a broadband deal as part of the settlement agreement. I can't imagine someone being without it who is contributing so much. producing on the Internet is kind of easy... it's consuming all the Spam that takes its toll. I'm fairly fortunate, or should I say very fortunate to have high speed internet and extra cash, although I do have finite means and am stressed pretty thin for worthy causes. I kind of like the line... "I'd like to help, but my money is all tied up in cash" ... To be clear I am not complaining or begging... I've been living on shoestrings for a long time-- kind of taste like chicken flavored spaghetti-- and as long as I keep comparison to a minimum, I'm content enough |
