As we have sadly given unregulated control over what's accessible on the Internet to the most depraved of industries -- the middlemen/marketing industrial complex (ie. Google, Yahoo, Microsoft ) -- this 4 year-old website has now almost achieved perfect invisibility as a practically accessible Internet address. The Internet public has been thoroughly suckered into buying a "information superhighway" where opportunist are actually paid (rewarded) to dig pot-holes and create bogus highway navigation signs. Obviously this is not what we were promised in the '80s and early '90s.... but unfortunately, the human scumbag virus has now achieved epidemic proportions and there really is a "new world order".... and frankly, it sucks.
Anyway, in the effort to get this website some needed exposure I'm trying some benign marketing gimmicks. Sponsoring a "fishing derby" of sorts qualifies, in my opinion, as good marketing as a produces some social good and very little, if any, social blight. The game is pretty simple, I have tagged (copper wire with glass beads) a few fish and released them in the Mendham Mud Hole. To the first person who returns a tag (or a photocopy) from this stocking I will award a first prize of $100.00. I am hoping that some other businesses might see value in becoming associated this marketing plot and add to the prize by offering some more cash or merchandise. In the coming weeks... months.. years... I will be adding more "prize" fish. |

Hard to say... no one has claimed the money and website traffic is up a little bit --but who knows if that has anything to do with the fishing prize. From my perspective, failure really isn't a possibility as this is a low-investment and low-risk method of promotion.
I did go fishing down at the mud-hole a few weeks ago and frankly it wasn't much fun. Unless you use some bait or lure too big for the millions of mudhole Parana (sunfish) your not going to stand much chance of catching anything but a lot of these three inch junk fish. The real "funny" part is, the town actually paid money this spring to have more junk fish (sunfish) added to the junk fish over-population. |
