Mendham: Town Stuff: The Next Council Meeting: 11/20/2006

Question to be asked of the council at the November 20th meeting.

On November 9th the Borough disposed of surplus through a virtually unadvertised, and certainly unpromoted, Thursday morning auction. Obviously, in approving this method of disposal, the mayor and members of the council believe the public interest was served through the arrangements made. I, on the other hand, am of the opinion that the town disposed of the surplus in a grossly inefficient manner recouping substantially less than the real market value of the items disposed of. I challenge the council to explain, or defend, applying no advantages of available technology to maximize knowledge of, and participation in, the "public auction".

[mayor] I will only make one comment to it, it was advertised, it was attended, and we did generate money... anyone else have any other comment? at this time I will open the floor to the public present....

Here's how the Borough "reflected" my public comment in the official minutes of the meeting.

quote:

Gary Mosher, 147 Ironia Road, commented on the auction held by the Borough on November 9, 2006. Mayor Kraft responded that the auction was advertised, received good attendance and the Borough made money. There were no comments from the Council or the public.
